Karl Rove said what?

According to the Denver Post

Karl Rove said Wednesday that young voters are natural Republicans because they are independent in nature and that "the generation that goes around with an iPod is not a generation that likes to be dictated to."

The implication being that the GOP does not "dictate" to people.

Say what?

The GOP has no problem dictating private consensual behavior of adults.
The GOP has no problem dictating what drugs a doctor can prescribe to patients.
The GOP has no problem dictating that your private phone conversations can be tapped without probable cause.

I could go on...

  1. All politicians come with a built-in urge to micromanage other peoples lives. The difference between parties is the specific parts and degree of micromanagement.

You vote for the bozos whose area of interest is either of least interest to you or else most easily evaded, then you vote them out when they get too good at it.

Unfortunately, in the long term, big government just gets bigger. Perhaps if the governments doings were on the ballot as questions in the form of "Shall public Law XX.YYZ be repealed?" we could keep them in check.
